More My Digital Studio Fun

I just ordered A BUNCH of My Digital Studio downloads last night.  It's been awhile and I needed to catch up on all of the fun!  These are so economical...I love MDS!

For this card, I started with the Wonderful Wings (remember that set???) Stamp Brush Set (#129602 $1.95) which includes a 5x7" card design.  LOVE the card!  Well, I didn't want to print a 5x7" card, so I modified the greeting to add a drop shadow (my favorite) then saved it as a jpeg image.  I opened up a 4.25 x 5.5" blank card template and dropped it in as a picture.  Then I added a drop shadow to that part and added a layer of Lucky Limeade Textured Cardstock to the background.  VERY easy and I now have the size card I'd like.  I'll be ordering my prints from our own vendor as the colors match perfectly and the quality cannot be beat.  You may always print where you'd like - I choose our vendor because of the color matching and the highest quality available...expecially with our books.

Here's a TIP:  Make Pages 1 and 3 then Pages 2 and 4 identical.  When you get your card, it will be printed on all 4 sides.  Simply cut the card in 1/2 along the score line and you have TWO identical postcards.  I did this for Devin's graduation announcements last year and am doing that for this card here.  Comes out to be $1.00 each.  Woohoo!

I'm sharing a My Digital Studio project (card) that I just created last night.  I love this program because it's SO user-friendly, chock full of amazing digital content, coordinates with all Stampin' Up! supplies, colors, and products, and completely customizable.  Check this out for something special...

On this card, I used the Everyday Enchantment DVD that's available FREE during Sale-a-Bration (only through Saturday, March 31st...HURRY!!!!!) plus an In Color Ruffled Ribbon digital download.  Cute???

Card Organizer ~ Spring Soiree'

This is one of the projects we made at Spring Soiree' last month - I simply LOVE the Twitterpated Designer Paper and this project utilizes it with passion.  We added a fabric & paper flower along with a Trinket Heart charm attached with Baker's Twine...I hope you like!

I've made these organizers in the past using a coil-maker, but decided to use binder rings instead.  Why?  Because it's readily available and no special tools are needed.  :-)  Spiffy up the rings with scraps of Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding Ribbon - the rings are 1" in diameter.

We used the Flower Folds, Fun Flowers and Scallop Circle #2 dies along with the Big Shot to create the flower.  Twitterpated Designer Paper AND Designer Fabric were used.  The cover was made by cutting 6 x 8" pieces of the thick chipboard that comes with any of the Specialty Designer Paper/Glimmer Paper.  GREAT way to use those items that you don't have to pay extra for and keep from throwing away.  :-)  Attach the Twitterpated DSP to the board using Anywhere Glue Sticks.  BY FAR the best way to adhere the paper.  We lightly sanded the edges to help anchor them down plus give a slight distressed look. 

Instead of placing a perpetual calendar (list) on each pocket, we used categories.  I created these labels in My Digital Studio and punched them out using the Decorative Label Punch.  Attach with mini glue dots.  I'm making a video soon on how to make this - stay tuned!

Have you checked out hybrid-digital projects?  It's where you start with a digitally produced piece and add your own embellishments to it.  This creates texture and dimension.  It's lovely!  The project shown here is from Leadership.  I need to purchase a frame for it (will show more details on this project once I get that done), but you can see how the texture really stands out from the digital piece. 

How do you get it?
You can download the software and access the free trial just as you would a Stampin' Up! digital download by downloading it through my website's Online Store:  www.tarabazata.stampinup.net. 

What do you do once you try it and like it?

Hello Again!

It's been a really FAST month!  I can't believe how the time is flying.  This is due in large part to the very busy spring we are having.

Connor's swim team has been going on for nearly 2 months, he's gone through a serious bout of mono (what a nasty illness), and he's still playing catch-up with his school work and getting back into swimming.  Still working on driving hours and now it's time to look for a summer job. 

Seth is pushing through the final month of school with some major projects plus working in some swim-team practices.  He's also looking for a summer job. 

Devin.  It's Devin's senior year and it's been a FAST year.  Doug and I have driven through his future college-home headed to a couple of swim meets and it makes me misty EACH time.  I look at that beautiful campus and see all of the students and simply cannot believe he's old enough (much less Doug and I!) to be going to college in the fall.  He's been offered a full-time job on campus during the summers plus continuous part-time work during school.  It's a GREAT opportunity and he's really excited about it.  His dorm/roommate assignment has arrived and the countdown is definitely "on" for the final weeks of school.  I'm definitely headed toward a full-on cry-session about him moving on, but I will do this privately.  He's a young man and this is how it should be, but I feel a good cry is okay, too.

Instead of purchasing the pricey announcements from the school, I opted to make them myself (at about $1 each).  Since traditional stamping is way too "girly" for the boys, I used My Digital Studio to make Devin's announcements.  Here's a tip: make a complete card (did you know you can remove the MDS logo on the back?  I didn't either until I tried it!), with Pages 1 & 2 duplicated onto Pages 3 & 4.  That way, you get two cards out of one.  I chose to make them like postcards (single layer, printed on the front and back), but you could mount them onto a folded card or another piece of coordinating cardstock.  I am very happy with how they came out and the best part is they got Devin's approval.  Right on!

     

I will be switching out my method of sending e-vites, etc. plus hope to post more on my blog.  I really do love working on this blog.  However, it's a very busy time for us so thank you for your patience!
